That’s Country

Sundays : 12 noon - 3 pm

Presented by Frank McHugh

“That’s Country" is a mix of new country, honky tonk, country rock, western swing, rockabilly and country that borders on jazz and the blues. Country with attitude.

Regular features include a live music gig guide, local music, interviews with local musicians, album of the week and country music birthdays of the week featuring profiles and songs of these artists.

Frank has been with North West FM since 1994 also loves to get out to see live music. He has 15 years experience in mixing sound, including one show for Steve Young from the USA.

He was chosen by Melbourne band Crakajak in 1996 to accompany them on their first trip to Tamworth for the 10 day country music festival as their sound engineer.

Tamworth has been an annual pilgrimage since then and each year by invitation Frank hosts a daily program on Festival FM – the official radio voice of the Tamworth festival.

Not bad for a guy who wasn't interested in music of any kind until 1970 when he accidentally saw a support film called "A Time To Sing" starring a 19 year old Hank Williams Jr.

Frank is also a committee member of the Country Music Guild of Australasia.

Frank’s top ten country albums for 2009          Previous years: 2008   2007   2006   2005

Playlists: Nashville Board,   Mark Trail Music
